Salary Advice

Hi all

Presently I may be offered a position with a west coast based investment management firm with around $400Mn AUM. I have an undergraduate engineering degree / MBA from Asia and just finished school in Quant Finance in USA. I have around 4 years of technology consulting followed by around 5.5 years of debt capital market investment banking (Vice President) with a top European bank in Asia. My role will require fundamental credit security picking, some quantitative rigor on developing a model and some technology assistance to develop the back end platform. The firm is small in terms of number of people with less than 10 investment professional (i think actual number is 5).

I was hoping if someone could throw some light on market rate compensation for such a position with fixed+bonus.

Thanks

I'm coming mostly from the HF side, so not perfectly comparable. It sounds like you are junior/mid level analyst. At an hedge fund I would expect $120 - 150 base. Bonus is really difficult to predict - in HF world it is determined almost entirely by returns. For an analyst I would say 100 - 200% at a fund of this size, contingent on both your and firm performance
