The school brand/program matters way more than the location. Of the schools in Toronto, the ones that have a decent OCR are York and UofT. However they do not even stand in the same league as Queens or Ivey (if we're talking about high finance/consulting). The only upside to being in Toronto is that you are close to network like you said, but some of my friends who go to Ivey said that they're given days/even weeks off so they can go network/interview.

So if you're deciding on your university go with the brand/program, you can always find ways to network during your internships/do informational interviews on the phone. Being in person does help, but I've made some decent connections with alumni on the phone so it depends on your social skills as well.

I don't get why the program even matters. Like learning more material doesn't really help for Ibanking because they will train you on the job. I find that prestige and on campus recruitment are more important factors. But honestly in Canada, there isn't really prestige because none of the university are really that exclusive.

My friend landed a position at McKinsey in Toronto after going to Wharton. When people talk about location mattering they are talking about maybe choosing Columbia over Wharton because they want to network in NYC and land an investment banking job. No way should someone choose a regional school in Toronto over a MBA business schools ">M7 school.

Yes, that's true but if you could only choose from Canadian schools, then does it make that much of a difference. I understand in the US, prestige matters a lot in comparison to Canada. And isn't networking just as important?

Yes prestige still matters. It matters a great deal because the prestigious companies only recruit from certain MBA programs. They don't give a shit about the location of the college, they care about it's brand/quality. The employment report and list of top recruiters to each program should answer your question.
