Screw it why not
So I have decided that even though all I could secure on short notice post military was a PWM BB internship for my junior/senior year summer I am going to go balls to the wall for IBD. Chances are slimmer than justin beiber's biceps, but even though I am not at a target the fun will be in the chase. My question is for those who have recently secured FT and SA gigs, what interview guide did you think was the best purchase? Obviosly I am not willing to spend hundreds of bucks at the time. I feel comfortable on fit questions and networking, but the technicals will be the make or break if I get in the room. Thanks in advance for any tips on the best guide
I went from basically that to a small boutique internship by printing out a list of every firm in the midwest in IB and submitting my resume and also reaching out to 1 person at that firm. Keep a list in excel to stay organized. Picking up the phone and asking whos in charge of recruiting will get you a lot more leads then cold emailing. I took ended up taking on a unpaid internship with basically little experience my entire sr. year. I do have a good gpa and relevant experience, which turned into a full time gig. Remember that banking is a relationship based business. Establishing a relationship with anyone in the business who can refer you etc will take you above and beyond. I would also utilize linked in and leverage the fak out of your military experience. I guarantee anyone within your specialization who ended up in IB will be more willing to talk to you. THere are also thousands of threads just like yours which already have a million comments with other helpful info. Feel free to PM me.
The breaking into wall street guide is everything you need. Literally, everything... Costs $100, but hey, its worth it. Consider it a $100 investment with unlimited upside-potential, and virtually 0 negatives/risk associated with this guide. Its a steal, and worth every penny.
Well I have the old version from google just didn't know if the new version was better
BIWS was perfect for me.
let's put it this way...$39.99 and you get all future updates, or $97 with all future updates...do you bet on the cheaper guide that gets you 99% of the way there (if you know everything in our tech guide, you are good), or do you add in extra esoteric questions that add little incremental value? That's a question you have to answer yourself.
Also, you should make your investment knowing that we will soon be adding hundreds if not thousands of COMPANY SPECIFIC questions pulled straight from our thousands of interview insights which will be unprecedented. Not only will you get all the most common questions and how to answer them, you will be getting the most difficult and most frequent questions each company has been asking recently (priceless). All in one easy to look up guide.
BIWS can't offer that because they don't have the breadth of knowledge/data we've built up in the WSO Company Database...so make your choice wisely :-)

I am going to buy it just based on your solid post and the fact that you guys truly read posts and can add substance
Patrick, what time do you anticipate the company-specific questions being rolled out?
