Sent dumb emails to HR upcoming my spring internship last summer and realized it just now. How bad is it?
Don't want to post the conversation here, but if you would look at it and let me know what you think it's highly appreciated. Pls leave a reply so I can PM you.
I'll read it.
I just sent a dumb email by accident a few days ago. (non business related)
I can empathize. Although I'm a quant research guy so I can't relate to your exact business situation too much.
Feel free to send it to me.
I sent it.
I am deliberately keeping this vague, but I felt a public response (in addition to my PM) would be constructive for you, the other people who might want to help you, and other people who read this post later.
You didn't rail against affirmative action.
You didn't insult anyone.
You didn't send anyone porn.
You didn't call illegal aliens murderers and rapists, nor were you filmed shoving a student journalist and calling for muscle at a Black Lives Matter protest. (Don't worry, one is still a serious presidential candidate and the other is still employed)
You made a simple request and you are now developing anxiety over the fact there was some gentle pushback.
The email was to someone who isn't central to any important decisions about your career. I know, I know, it sounds counterintuitive to you right now, and I can explain more via PM if needed.
I am flagging this as typical undergraduate workplace anxiety, not as "oops, you really screwed up." Before we started work in industry, we also might have been freaked out like you. But by the end of the summer, you will realize how silly it was to devote this amount of worry and energy to something this benign.
