Series 57 Difficulty

A topic on this hasn't been posted to in a while; now that the test has been around closer to a year, I'd like to see some more comments on it.

Early posts made it sound horrifically hard - is that still the consensus? Anybody who used PassPerfect, how accurate did you find the practice tests from there (after reading the book material, of course)?

Recently took the 57. I only used STC and read their book through a few times. I thought most of the practice questions were fair, although there are certain topics on the actual series that weren't covered in the STC prep materials. You definitely want to be scoring well over 80 on the practice exams, since I barely passed the 57 and I had been getting low 80s on the practice.

So I actually studied with a group and collectively we were able to sort of bum off of each other's resources and so had the luxury of using Passperfect (religiously), skimming through STC text and some Knopman material definitely helped push me over the passing score mark. I would say that if you get a chance to purchase Knopman's online videos, you definitely should and try to get a hold of their 11 practice exams because it covers more content than PP and STC.

The exam itself had a lot of scenario based questions. The hardest part for me was understanding the reporting process, and memorizing the deadlines. Get a private tutor, I know a good one if you need. My firm hired one and he came in a few times a week. It helped us a lot.

As mentioned in earlier posts on multiple threads regarding the Series 57 exam, you need to study material from multiple sources to prepare well. A couple of books available on Amazon can be added to the arsenal. Publication is by IVOL Technologies. One book is titled Series 57 Exam Review Study Material, and the other Question Bank. In fair disclosure, I have affiliation with this firm. At this time I would combine these books along with other study material rather than as stand-alone material, but down the road this material may become self sufficient as it gets updated periodically.
