Should I apply to consulting while waiting to be admitted to business school.
I am currently waiting to be admitted to business school (1 year MBA program in Europe). If everything goes fine, I will start in January 2014. After the business school I want to get into consulting and my question is:
Is it worth trying to switch into consulting now, work there for half a year, get MBA and return to the same firm? Or is it a stupid dream of a brain dead idiot and I should go kill myself?
I am now working in industry and will leave my current employer anyway (regardless of wheteher I will be admitted to business school or not) and given my background I think I might have a chance to get a pre-MBA position in consulting.
Do you mean January 2014?
Yeah, sure. Sorry about that.
If the end goal is consulting and you can get into consulting prior to an MBA, why not explore the opportunity for a year or two? You can always reapply for the MBA later if you want to go back to transition into another firm- if the end goal is MBB, that prior experience consulting will definitely help.
