Should I ask network contact if he knows the BB office where I'm interviewing?

So I'm interviewing at a top BB Private Bank for FT Analyst program at a regional office in a very affluent area of the country. Phone interview went well yesterday, followed the WSO behavioral guide to a tee, went as well as it could possibly have gone, in my opinion. Won't hear from them for 2 weeks, they said. Sent thank you emails and also hand-written thank you notes to both analysts.

Situation: I am supposed to have a chat with a Fund of Funds President this week or next, who said he'd help me get a job after grad, but this was told to me back in 2008 in the summer, and a lot has changed since then. Still, he's a man of his word, and he very well may help me out. I'm sure he does business with the private bank in question, he told me he's been on the road for the last 3 weeks raising capital, so maybe he's spoken with them recently.

Question: What are your thoughts about asking him if he knows the heads of the Private Bank office in question? Would it help me at the Private Bank if they knew I'm friends with this guy? I wouldn't ask him to make a call on my behalf, but if he offered I don't think I'd refuse. On the other hand, he may have something in mind on the buy-side for me, at a HF or BB. My long term goal is to run money, but this private bank thing is my only current option at getting my foot in the door at a top BB.

I know I'm making this complicated, which usually results in me deciding to sit still and not do anything, see how things play out. Would still like some thoughts on it, though.

You should just update your contact with what you've been up to and how recruiting has been going for you. If you drop it into normal conversation he will probably speak up if he knows someone.
