I bought a $13 watch at Target last year. It still going strong. Granted that it's fake leather and it was made in China.

Buy a cheap watch and send me the money so I can buy an extra watch

Power and Money do not change men; they only unmask them

I think every man should buy a reasonably-priced watch. A watch in the US$200-$500 range can easily look nice enough to be worn just about anywhere, even to something black-tie, while not being so flashy as to make people think you're an idiot with more money than sense.

Personally, I swap between two watches that fell roughly within that price range; both of these watches were my father's, and now they're mine. That's another thing about good watches in styles that are neither overly plain nor flashy - they can be passed along for decades.

Totally agree--you don't need to spend a lot. It should be tasteful, not flashy. A leather strapped watch is always a stronger sign of status--no need to prove anything to anyone. You just ARE.

Eh I don't like Breitling, feels like you're trying too hard.

My old man gave me a Patek Nautilus when I graduated and it serves me well - No one is going to rob me at gun point because it doesn't look extraordinary, however when someone in the know notices it's an instant conversation starter.

Get something understated.

I second that.

It depends, my dad is in his 50's and bought his Breitling when he got promoted. I would feel weird being in my 20's and spent $10k plus on a watch. It's like you have to earn it to buy it... But do whatever you want...
