Should I List my Blog on Resume?
I'm a sophomore right now, interested in investment banking or trading.
I'm wondering whether I should put my blog on my resume when applying for internships.
The blog is basically commentary on macroeconomics but I also suggest investment ideas from time to time. Basically I read a lot of academic papers, analytic news/magazines, and stuff investment firms say and synthesize ideas and concepts on my blog. It averages around 100 viewers a day so nothing special.
I want to show recruiters that I have an interest/understanding in finance/investing beyond what most applicants have. This interest can't be really seen just through my resume/cover letter.
However, I don't know if they will be put off by it. I tend to write in an authoritative manner and come interview time they may hold me to a higher bar than others. They may assume I have a really in depth understanding when in reality I just synthesize and summarize interesting and thought-provoking ideas from others.
What do you guys think?
There may also be a certain ridiculousness in a 19 year old attempting to discuss fairly advanced concepts in an authoritative manner
Can we see said blog?
Question: Is it near the top when Googling for your name?
If so, they'll likely find it anyway if you make any progress through the recruiting. Controlling your web presence is a great thing - this way, your well thought-out finance blog comes up, instead of, say, pictures of you being a drunken idiot on someone else's site. I control the entire first page for my name, which makes me feel confident I'm controlling what people see online about me.
I second the request to see the blog - if it's shitty it could hurt you on the resume. Otherwise, you could include it, but it still may be seen as a bit weird.
of professional quality.
I third the same request....post the blog link
I fourth the same request. Post the blog.
