Silver Bananas for anyone who reviews my resume!

Sophomore with IB experience looking for further IB internships. Any and all criticism is welcomed and will be rewarded! Thank you very much in advance!

Since WSO is not working properly at the moment, I have uploaded the resume elsewhere:

margin at top ~0.2" too big –name bold in smallcaps –phone number (no parens, just dashes) comes after name – email on next line –school address in top left corner, labeled in smallcaps with first address line level with phone number –permanent address in top right corner, similarly formatted. (this is useful info and takes up space and allows more room for real stuff) –header lines need to be ~1 pt, yours are too thin –all text should be smaller, 11 pt max. print this thing out and look at it, the text will look ginormous. –indent bullet points more, about 2x more –heading titles are good –unless your overall gpa is sub 3.0, don't put major gpa on there. –gpa needs another decimal. '2.95/4.00' –everyone is on the deans list and NSCS and that shit so take it off or move it to additional info –why is your schedule on your resume? –give one or two clubs some talk under leadership heading and move the rest to the bottom. education can be a short section, you want to get to relevant work asap. –headings in smallcaps –the line below work experience is ~0.5 pt lower than the others –the kerning (letter spacing) for the second work experience is bad. check your real one for this stuff and make manual adjustments if necessary –a few pts of space after headings is necessary –less space between entries (i.e. not a full line break) –don't italicize dates –take Spanish off if you can't comfortably conduct a technical interview in it. i would remove the others, too. –DCF (and friends) isn't a proper noun –putting LBO in parens is insulting to the person reading the resume, pick the full term or the abbreviation, not both. also get rid of '(PPM)' –bullet point lengths look good (more than 3/4 across page) –no parens in bottom section. 'Baroque era classical music' –i would remove technical skills, those skills are all a given for the position –CPR certified, wow. That never even crossed my mind when I wrote mine. Points for comprehensiveness but take it off unless firm is known for working analysts to the point of heart failure. –debating? being argumentative? maybe 'forensics' –don't capitalize everything in additional information –'partners, founders, bloodsuckers' not 'Partners, Founders, Bloodsuckers' –you can put the division you were in at narnia in the italicized part. 'IB Intern, XYZ Division'

Good luck.

Thank you for your response. I have edited my resume accordingly, although I don't agree with 100% of your recommendations.

In writing my IB Resume I modeled it after the WSO and M&I templates and other IB resumes I've seen. Yet I have never seen an IB Resume or template calling for both school and permanent addresses. Same goes for using smallcaps.

Why do you say my schedule is on my resume?

Also, kudos for the CPR line, it literally made me laugh out loud in the office.

Yeah , no problem. Which address would you use if you could only use one? Putting both removes white space on either side of your resume, and potentially brings up another thing for your interviewer to see about where you may have grown up. Do as you like.

Try small caps and print it out and you'll see. I'm not familiar with the WSO template, but I've seen the M&I one and its ok. But smallcaps generally looks better and I've seen it a lot. Makes it look more professional, IMO.

You said you're a finance major up top. Unless you are a pottery major, there is no point in listing all those classes. Those classes are standard fare for every finance student at every university in the country.

Good luck.
