Skinny Pants and Ties (investment Banking)
Hi everyone, Just wanted to ask if it would be suitable to wear skinny fit pants (chinos) and/or skinny ties (solids navy or grey) for IB jobs? thanks

No one wants to see the outline of your dick and balls in a professional environment or outside. I personally would rather see someone dressed like a 1990's NBA player:

*Early 2000's. '03 to be exact, one of the best draft class of all time. This might be my new favorite picture between LeBron in his all white second coming of Christ suit and Kirk Hinrich in the front row rocking just as baggy of a look as everyone else
How about a look like this? http://ballislife.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/BZZdELLIEAEIwrB.jpg
Ah...a much simpler time it was, when the number of buttons on a man's suit was directly equivalent to his personal net worth.
+1 for the NBA players photo

How about slim fits? how slim is appropriate?
You're goal is to look like everyone else in the office
Slim fit is fine. Something is too slim when it looks tight. Should be easy to figure out the difference.
How about you go lift OP? Just look at what others around you are wearing. No one really cares as long as you look good. Do not wear skinny jeans to an interview (wtf?). If anything, follow the saying "dress for the job you want to have" i.e. look at what your boss wears. Is he wearing skinny jeans? Probably not.
Ahh, the classic "I want to look hip and modern, but I also want to be able to feel my balls when sitting in my desk chair for 10 hours" conundrum

i don't mind skinny ties, but men still wear skinny pants? really?
If I see a man in skinny pants, I honestly have no respect for them. Don't care much about skinny ties.
I think you are fine if you wear well-fitted pants but not necessarily skinny. But up to you. We live in a world now where people's feelings and comfort are more important than social norms.

OP - no skinny pants please
Unless you're in Hong Kong, in which case you're allowed to rock nut-huggers, but only if they're Tom Ford and set you back like $3,000 (USD)
casual fridays?
A wear slim fit jeans etc and few people in office do too.. That's fine.. but as many stated previously, people shouldn't see your balls.
What's going on with this forum...am I on the wrong site? I thought this was for the finance industry not a brooklyn dive bar
It takes a certain body type and face shape to pull off a skinny tie without looking either too fashion forward/flashy or inappropriate (read as: douche). If you're really slim and have a long face with sharp features, go for it. It's about picking the right attire to suit your body type, not wearing something just because you like the look. Oh and remember that you (generally) can't put a dimple on a skinny tie.
Unless you work in venture capital like me (which you currently don't), then feel free to go nuts, you'll still be better dressed than 90% of the people you meet with lol
If you think a classic suit set is too mainstream, try one of them: https://static01.nyt.com/images/2008/07/31/fashion/31shorts-600.jpg It's pretty cool especially in summer!
Nah. I'd say don't be creative on your look unless the firm needs you more the opposite.
Bermuda suits are awesome.
Don't do it!.. you're safe probably on skinny ties though
Skinny pants are for marketing interns.
What about short sleeve dress shirts?
