Slipping with leather dress shoes...
Have any of you have this problem on slick floors? I've slipped twice (fell on my butt) and thoroughly embarrassed myself..
One each on Cole haan and Johnston Murphy... kinda feel id have the same problem with AE and any other leather sole shoe...
how do you manage to grip? I typically wear sperries (not the original, these ones have decent grip), and indoor soccer shoes, and both grip much better obviously.
They will stop slipping once you break them in.
Generally when I get new shoes, I like to scuff the bottoms on asphalt or similar before I wear them out. Go outside and walk like you're trying to get gum off of your soles. This tends to help with the new-shoe slips.
I think u have to used rubber sole shoes.
This may be bullshit but I've heard if you can make your shoes grip by rubbing a potato on them.
When I get new shoes with leather soles, I take a serrated knife and cut/scrape length and width-wise to give them texture to grip.
AE Park Avenues have a rubber layer on the heel before the stacked leather begins.
CH & JM do have that problem, walk around on asphalt to break them in, and walk slower around the office until they're thoroughly scuffed on the bottom
sounds good, ordered a pair of AE parks.
Great haha and the whole time I was trying to avoid scuffing the bottom of the soles to keep them in better shape... will do, thanks

You can get dress shoes with soles that provide better traction than leather. Allen Edmonds has dainite and vibrum sole options for most of their shoes.
