Solutions to Common FactSet Problems

Considering the number of people complaining about FactSet on these forums, I thought I would start a thread to provide people with solutions for some of the more common problems. Despite the large number of FactSet users that are out there, it is surprisingly difficult to find solutions to common problems online, resulting in many people reaching for the phone to call IT. Therefore, I'll start it off with two problems that every FactSet user should know how to fix on their own.

FactSet Tab in Excel Disappearing: This problem usually occurs when a refresh of some FactSet formulas "gets stuck", forcing you to click cancel. It can also happen if your Internet connection is interrupted during a refresh. It can be easily fixed by going to Excel Options, clicking Add-Ins, selecting Disabled Items from the dropdown menu next to the word Manage, and clicking Go. Then simply select the disabled FactSet add-in and click Enable. Close Excel and reopen it and the FactSet tab should be back.

FactSet Not Displaying Correctly: Issues such as not being able to scroll when in FactSet, transcripts and filings not being viewable, and toolbars not being visible have been common problems recently. These problems typically occur on laptops that are running Windows 8 or Windows 10, due to display scaling being automatically enabled on these machines. To fix the problem, you will need to go to Program Files (x86), FactSet, and find the application that is giving you trouble. The application labelled Marquee is the primary FactSet interface, while the one labelled PDFXCviewLauncher is the one that enables viewing of transcripts and filings. To fix display issues with these or other FactSet applications, simply right click on them, click Properties, select the Compatibility tab, and check the box labelled Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.

If anyone else has any common problems and their solution, feel free to post them on this thread, preferably in the same format as the two posted above.
