Recruiting for Sophomore Rotational Programs
Hi,
I am currently a sophomore at a great school (not ivy league though). Every bank comes out and recruit here every winter. I have a decent resume/experience/gpa (pe, boutique, mid tier ibanking experience with a 3.8+).
I am looking for people's input on sophomore rotational programs...
do they still exist?
what firms?
level of difficulty? ( i know is hard.. but how hard?)
What i should expect besides a typical ibanking interview?
chances?
backup plans?
I have heard of people from ivy leagues that intern two summers straight at ibanks (in their summer analysts program) and there has been a few cases too at my school..
will it hurt my chances for junior year recruitment?
will ibanks really let a sophomore intern?
should i be content at the midtier that I am at? or even apply for their summer analyst program
Thanks guys.
.
Which of those rotational programs aren't only for diversity/women? I know Barcaps and CS are for diversity only, because I asked the recruiters there. Thanks
.
I think most of them do sophomore rotation programs, then there are diversity ones.. I would look at the bank's websites bro, I am guessing all the internships are on there.

Hello all!
I was wondering, What I-Banks have programs for sophomores??
I know JPM has one over the summer for 9 weeks, also GS has one but it is in the spring and only for 1 week.
Are there any others??
Thanks!

..I think there are a lot of threads on this. Highly recommend a search.
Thanks, Patrick
Learning the proper spelling of "Sophomore" might be a good start for a detail-oriented industry.
And UBS has a presidents rotational I believe.
Thanks Patrick..

Rising sophomore at a target---
What does it take to get into one of these programs? I've heard that they're competitive, but what are they looking for? Is relevant work experience an important factor? Any examples of successful applicants' qualifications?
Thanks.
junior internships.
demonstrated interest (coursework, prior work experience & networking), good grades
i suggest you pursue SEO if you meet their criteria that is. Since you are a rising sophmore, SEO may be able to get you a decent internship that could open up doors for you down the road.

I applied at a couple of the sophomore rotational programs. I'm trying to network with local boutiques but I would much rather work at a BB. How could I improve this resume and how competitive am I? Thanks

Looks good. i dont know if you can get a BB this year, but next year you will definitely be competitive
Get rid of High School, SAT anything you've done before coming to college and your high-end restaurant stint and add more details on equity research group.

Can someone list all the Banks that offer sophomore internship programs
Please start putting your threads in the appropriate forum (Get a Job) and using the Search function. The archives are pretty extensive.
I don't think there is a definitive list of sophomore programs on here but searching helps. Below is a list I pulled up in about 20 seconds by searching "sophomore".
//www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/morgan-stanley-ibd-sophomore-rotational-… //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/sophomore-internships-1 //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/sophomore-consulting-internships //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/Citigroup-sophomore-rotational-program-0 //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/GS-sophomore-spring-break-program http://wallstreetoasis.com/forums/those-who-applied-to-lehman-brothers-…
so pretty much every bulge has a sophomore program ... any MM or boutiques that have sophomore programs?
You dont listen too well do you....
haha ... well going through the archives takes a lot of time, that I dont have ... I was just looking for a list, I guess no one can come up with one

Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone can let me know if anyone can help me compile a list of sophomore rotational programs/ where to apply for them.
Morgan Stanley(I have heard of it, but where to apply?) UBS(I have heard of it, but where to apply?) CS(Does it even exist) Citi(I have heard of it, but where to apply?) GS(I have heard of it, but where to apply?) J.P Morgan( I know they have s&T and IB summer programs but do they have a rotational?)
Can all of you also tell me if any banks have sophomore programs similar to J.P's that are not rotational
THanks,
MS and JPM have it mainly for URMs, and all of these programs can be found on their websites if you look hard enough. Some may, however, only be publicized heavily at certain target schools. DB also has a 3-day program for sophomores.
Almost all of the listed programs above except for maybe UBS and Citi are geared towards URMs. Almost all of the spots are designated for URMs but there may be a handful of slots for non-URMs who network like crazy.
As for UBS and Citi, the people who tend to get it are at Wharton or top targets have previous financial experience and/or network like crazy.
At the end of the day, networking is key.
BUMP!
Also, when are interviews for these programs? Same time as junior SA? jan/feb?
bump again. also, can one apply to both the sophomore program and for SA spots typically reserved for juniors.
About these sophomore rotational programs at BBs... (Originally Posted: 06/23/2009)
Are they like regular junior year summer internships in terms of hours/type of work? Also, are these URM/diversity programs like the ones some BBs have for freshman? Why are they called "rotational" programs by the way?
I understand that they are selective, but I'm assuming that has more to do with the limited options available to sophomores. Is the interview/selection process similar to regular SA or FT?
Also, given the changes in Wall St over the past year, which programs are still open? GS, MS, Citi, any others?
Same hours. Same work.
They're called "rotational," because you typically rotate through at least 2 divisions, choosing from IBD, Equities, Fixed Income, and IMD.
I have the same question as well. And to add to the list of questions, what else can sophomores do for a summer internship aside from these rotational programs?
The rotational program is meant to give you more exposure to a variety of areas of the bank before you lock in to your FT target during your junior year. Depending on the bank you may rotate through up to four or five divisions of the bank and have an opportunity to gain offers from each of the divisions to come back for an internship the next year.
