Standing out in Big 4 Audit?
Hey everyone,
Current senior, and looking to start Big 4 Audit in the fall. I'm pretty sure I don't want to be there too long, but I want to kill it and make a good impression. I figure if I'm top rated and don't get into another role somewhere else, I'd be able to transfer into TS. Does anyone have any ideas on what that would look like? I was thinking bringing in a client would give me a top rating but I imagine that as a first year that would be extremely difficult. Any insight into this would be very welcome. Thanks!
Get up to speed as quickly as possible with the work stuff, try to do other people's work and try to directly take some of the workload off of your senior. Also, make friends with everybody and suck up to your seniors and managers, because your year-end rating is basically dependent on how well you navigated office politics that year and not at all on your actual performance.
I keep hearing about the office politics. I'm not a fan, but I better get used to it I guess. Nice to know the old "It's not what you know, it's who you know" holds up all through life though.
Sure, bringing in a client would be good, but not if it comes at the expense of the things you're supposed to be doing. It's also highly unlikely, borderline weird. Just focus on absolutely crushing your work and asking your senior and manager how to help with theirs. Also, if you haven't already, start hitting your Becker classes hard and try to finish your CPA before you start. It's tough to focus on that and work, plus there should be a bonus for finishing in your first year.
