GS7:
I do not have any modelling experience, during the internship I mostly did profiles/comps/simple financial analysis and did not really touch a proper model. Is this the standard for SA as well?

Most SAs have some exposure to the actual model, but your experience isn't uncommon.

GS7:
I understand the fundamentals and assumptions behind a DCF model (not so comfortable with lbo models), but have no actual experience in building one. Would you guys recommend I learn how to properly model before joining as an analyst or is the training provided to analysts far better than anything I can learn by myself. Are analysts expected to model from day one after they finish their training, or is it more of a gradual process?Thank you very much for this!

No need to spend money. I found free financial modeling courses online in seconds using Google. Brush up on the basics and you should be good to go. A good attitude and willingness to learn go further than technical skills you come in with.
