Statistics VS acturial math?which is better for analyst or quant?
I am current a sophomore at UT at Austin. I really love math althrough I am not the best in classes. After talking to others and exploring myself, i have fingured out that analyist or quant is exactly the thing I want to do after I graduate. I am an Eco major now who minor in finance and CS. And thinking about double in math but still not sure which option to go. Statistics or acturial science?
Ps:should I drop Eco and exaggerate CS and finance to increase my chance to get in? But I have already learnt many credits in Eco.
Well, where are you attending? Is it a target school? I believe from an IBD perspective a high degree of mathematics is not necessarily required, as they look for finance-related background + work experience to fill in the employment criteria. Trading I believe is where Statistics/CS/Mathematics do rise.
Ultimately, get the "HIGHEST" GPA possible. If you are getting C's, I would re-evaluate my major so you can score A's and B's. Do what you enjoy, it shows a lot in both professionally and personally. I personally find Statistics more interesting, along with Economics.
Statistics is great IMO especially if combined with that econ.
