both lower middle market shops. unless you were interviewing specifically Stifel SF Tech (legacy Weisel) or you loved the people at Stifel much more than the people at Piper, not much difference.
Bump
I assume you have to give Piper an answer in the next couple of days? I would also say there is probably not much difference between the two, but if you have an exploding offer perhaps making Stifel aware of this would result in a speedier response from them? Are your offers for specific groups or generalist?
I've informed Stifel of my exploding offer (expires Friday), but still haven't heard from them. The offer's for a generalist role. Do you know anyone who interviewed with Stifel?
Sorry, I don't. I can't be sure but I feel like if they really wanted you, Stifel would have gotten back to you after you informed them- when did you tell them?
Are you leaning either way? I assume that you might prefer Stifel given the fact that you're still waiting to hear back from them. If so, why do you prefer Stifel? As it was said above, unless you have a specific reason to go with them there's no real difference between the two.
They will definitely get back to you before your deadline. I would wait to find out if I were you. I may be able to answer some questions and will PM you.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Can see why you'd prefer to be in NYC- wait till Friday, as @nyy423 said I'm sure they'll get back to you before the deadline- ignore the maybe they don't want you comment, that would only have applied if you told them a while ago. Good luck
Which office of Piper Jaffray is your offer for? When was the Stifel IBD Superday?

Stifel IBD in NYC is not generalist...
Here's how it works.
You get a generalist offer, then during training you get interviewed by different group heads. They tell HR who they like, you tell HR what groups you want. HR then does their best to make everyone happy.
WAIT, you mean after the offer you interview with groups and they select who they want for their respective groups???
Come on now, working at a pretty good MM Firm, I have been through this process for group selection and all that jazz...
No. If you get group placement during training (i.e. before you start real work) then it is by nature NOT a generalist offer. Not having a group yet is not the same thing as being generalist.
Take Stifel over PJ if you get it. Try for Tech or HC groups (legacy Wiesel / Cowen respectively)
Thanks for the input guys.
HR refers to FT offers as "Generalist Offers" - that is where the confusion is stemming from. But, as is stated above, analysts are not generalists as they are placed into industry groups eventually.
To clarify everyones posts above - offers are generalist offers as in candidates get to select groups only during training.
Now back to the matter at hand - anybody know of Stifel offers going out? :)
Offers have been given out and I believe if you have not heard back, then the waitlist is place to be...
Ah, hopefully these offers weren't ones from the recent superday

Just wait until Friday, Stifel knows about your exploding offer. If anything give the recruiter a call Friday morning as a polite (but urgent reminder)
