Strategic Outlier
Anyone seen Victor Cheng's Strategic Outlier newsletters? Or reviews/thoughts about them?
Pretty gimmicky to offer them print-only but has so far blocked me from my usual channels.

Career Resources
Hi there!
I subscribe to it and am overall fairly happy with the product. There is definitely some fluff in there, but I would say 70-80% of it is useful stuff. Shoot me a message if you want more info!
Thanks ac! Looks like I don't have enough points to send you a msg. Would I be able to reply if you send me a msg first?
Also curious if you got the previous material when you signed up, or if it was like a magazine where you get issues after your signup?
Any other comments on this?? Who else has done it?
I just recently subscribed and have received two issues, its too early to tell whether this print newsletter is worth it, although I found that putting aside 20 min to read, note and internalize important concepts works best. If you treat it as just another thing to read during your commute home, it won't be as valuable as integrating it to your formal career planning and holding yourself accountable for implementing some of the concepts Victor Cheng teaches (ie strategic goal setting, etc). You don't get past issues but rather would need to by individual letters. You do receive the first issue ever published (a kind of welcome and introductory letter).
Victor Cheng provides some useful information, but it really seems like he's heading toward the "making bank off idiots who attend self-help seminars" track. Most of it is fluffy with a few helpful bits here and there.
Victor Cheng is a good guy and his materials are good for case prep.
However, once you're in, you are probably going to be too busy to consciously implement his suggestions. At my MBB firm, my class received too many advice lectures/seminars/training sessions and mentor/buddy/career advisor pairing programs.
At some point, you just have to sit down and crank out the work. At the end of the day, no one can argue with results. So I wouldn't worry at all about "tips and tricks" and other b.s. like that.
