Summer 2015: Keeping Busy

Now that July 4th is right around the corner, summer has kicked into gear. By nature, the office has started to get a bit slow. Starting a thread in hopes of getting some suggestions for ways to keep busy either via hobbies/trips/etc. this summer. Feel free to share your plans.

For reference, I'm in the Mid-Atlantic/New England area.

Join a league in a sport you've wanted to play for a while. Great way to become good friends with an entirely new circle of people, stay healthy, and enjoy the summer weather. If you're lacking imagination try soccer, lacrosse, ball, or rugby, and if you're old and falling apart, then tear up a lawn bowling league.

Not a huge proponent of wasting your summer drinking - I'd honestly say try to get some good workouts in this summer, as it's an excellent season to start your cut so you can bulk in the winter. Don't waste time indoors playing games - go out with friends, make sure you see the sun for a few hours a day, and then make sure you're staying on top of all your networking/technical/learning endeavors.

Get in touch with colleagues and others in the industry that you've lost contact with and plan a road trip/boating adventure/cultural tour. Chances are business is slow for them as well and they'll be more likely to be interested. It's much easier to develop a relationship / network with people this way rather than trying to squeeze in a drink on a random night.

not responding to dumb threads like this

No one cares that you aren't.

OP: Same as above, go learn to play golf if you haven't already, or just work on improving your game and trying out a new course. Pick up a hobby on top as well, try something completely different than you'd normally expect. I got into R/C airplanes... go figure.
