What to bring on the first day? (SA)
I know this might sound stupid but what do I bring to work for the first day of the internship?
I am going to start on Monday and the only thing I have been told is what time to show up.
I am going to bring a pen, a pocket book and my passport but beyond that I don't know what I need.
Should I bring a messenger bag? Food? Water bottle?

EDIT: Also it is a Canadian bank so I don't know if that makes a difference for what they give me

Yeah, figure a messenger bag, a pen, pencil and a pocket book. When I was a SA I brought a bottle of water, some cough drops, and sometimes Cliff bars (protein bars).

yeah man definitely a briefcase, Burberry ipad case, oh don't forget the framed family picture
this really depends on if you will have a laptop or desktop for the summer. assuming you get a laptop, i would carry some sort of semi-casual messenger bag (ie: jack spade)...don't bring anything too fancy or flashy (expensive leather bag, briefcase, etc.)...you'll just look like a tool.
None of that is typically necessary. You hardly ever bring your laptop home.
OP I disagree, I highly recommend bringing your laptop home and getting a VPN if they allow it from personal experience.
What if power goes out and there are snow storms how will you be able to work on PP slides?
I don't know, bring a notebook and a pen. If they give you a laptop, they will give you a bag to go along with it.
Ask HR if your worried.
Bring a bucket to shit in while at your desk.
Otherwise just your body. The supply closet is for pens and paper. Don't bring them, that is stupid.
You should bring hand sanitizer. That stuff has saved me so many times when I'm eating at my desk and can't even leave to go to the bathroom.
I would also recommend an ergonomic or soft foot pillow. That way your posture will be somewhat elevated/better and you can use it to relax.
Finally, don't forget your phone charger!

Alright, so i got the summer analyst position that I have been working towards at a MM M&A investment bank boutique. I have all the necessary attire but I'm wondering, would there be anything really essential or helpful to purchase before the first day on the job. Like a laptop carry-on, notebooks, calculators, things of that nature.

I was wondering if any of you guys have brought a cot to the office for sleeping? Instead of walking all the way back to my apartment, I figure it would be a lot easier to catch a few hours of sleep in a comfortable cot in the office. Has anyone done this? Should I check with the MD of the group first to make sure this is OK?
If I were you, I'd just skip having an apartment and live at the office on your cot.
Ask them if you can move the office to your apartment.
