Systematic Trading firm in San Francisco or Bay Area?
Hi there, I wonder if anyone knows anything about systematic (quant) trading funds in San Francisco or Bay area? Or are there any IB trading units over there? I would imagine the area would have a lot of these funds given its quanty and techy nature. Who are the established players there? And how are quant funds regarded there?
Any input is welcomed.

thiel macro has a small fundanentally focused systemtic ccommodity fund. im sure there are a bunch of ctas out there as well.
Thanks guys. Do you know what is the best way to get more information about these funds/ CTAs? or to get in touch with people there? may be some recommendation of a headhunter?
You need a very strong software or hardware engineering background, if not a top tier CS/Math education to interview with Headlands.
Gray Whale is a smallish proprietary trading operation that has pretty high standards. SIG-level brainteasers would be expected.
It is my impression that neither of these firms recruits very heavily; they let the people come to them.
