Target school - Wealthy parents?
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/30/opinion/30kahle…
As I've said numerous times on this board, the main characteristic that ivy league students share is that their parents are rich. Has virtually nothing to do with aptitude, as you can find similar caliber of students at almost any top university these days.
very interesting read but id def agree--- i went to UConn and we had a good mix of dopey kids who got in cuz it was a state school and the very bright (BRUSHBRUSH) who went due to the fact that they were paying for their own school and it was cheaper to go to
Life's tough...
It's like getting a job because you know somebody (which happens 90% of the time). It's the way it will always be. If you're not rich, just be better than everyone else.
i've said earlier that banks are getting smarter and hiring the best kids. best schools are important too but not going to guarantee u anything.
I could not disagree with you more. So many kids at Ivy's are on scholarships it's ridiculous. Look at schools like SMU, GW, and Georgetown for rich.
harvard gives more scholarships that any other school as % of students, so many / most are not rich kids
Yeah I think I'm with you on this. I assume most ivies (these days) look like the line at the immigration office or DMV, not the country club.
More like the line at the Apple store.

Well if you're willing to donate a mill you'll get your average son into an ivy with no problem. (probably a couple mill for harvard or yale). But most of the kids do have very high aptitude. And there is a strong correlation between aptitude and social class at birth. (I can think of many reasons why).
