Tax Professional trying to move into PE
Hello everyone.
I posted this in the introductions & PE forum.
I am an acting manager at a big 4 working in Private Equity. I have three years of tax experience out of college but I am considering making the switch into finance, specifically Private Equity. I enjoy tax but I would like to work in a position where I add more value and am challenged to a greater degree. I work a lot of hours in tax and while I am well compensated, I feel I could gain more from a position in PE. The duties of an analyst (from my research) of valuations, IPO preparation, and assisting with acquisitions intrigue me.
I wanted to know how realistic it is for me to move from my current situation into finance/PE as described above. I have reached out to my internal network to see if I can connect with some recruiters and have also messaged some directly on linkedin. I receive tons of messages for tax but obviously none for finance.
I am based out of New York.
Any tips on moving as an experienced professional into a new industry are appreciated.
Thank you.
