Telecoms Play

With AT&T reported bid for T-Mobile for $39 billion dollars and some betting that regulators may not allow, what do you monkeys here think? I personally see this going
through because the merger will be good for the country & the combined entity will spend billions of dollars to spread mobile broadband across the country.

What was more laughable was seeing Sprint CEO Dan Hesse borderline ahem wail on CNBC´s Cramer and threaten to complain to the congress? Is this a desperate sign and time to short this sucker (S)?
Do the monkeys here see Sprint lasting longer than say few years? They may even further get squeezed on the backhaul fees.

Your take on AT&T as both short and long term play? Personally I see them as a definate buy given they are the only GSM providers left in the country and any professional business traveller leaving the country or an outsider visiting uses them only for roaming (except for maybe high end CDMA BlackBerrys like Bold & Style which both have sim card slot & roaming capabilities).

Is this the end of Wimax & all its supposed hype as it was mainly backed by Sprint. Other possible short plays here on the equipment manufacturers to look into? I am actually salivating seeing what is going in in the telecom sector and see major disrupt opportunities in the future. Do contribute & hallucinate away monkeys... Cheers
