Thank you to WSO

I just want to thank everyone on this forum. Not that it was THAT much help, but it was definitely gave me an extra edge over the other candidates. I got 5 offers, 1 IBD, 2 Corp Banking, 1 Fund of Funds and 1 AM. This past fall I couldn't even land interviews. Now people are offering me jobs like crazy. For all of you who are still looking for SA/FT, be fcuking persistent. Make your resume perfect. If you think it can be better, then it can be better. Network and ask people for help, they will give it. It's all about persistence and being passionate in the interviews. I'm not even a business major, have a 3.5 and go to a semi-target. My advice is if you show that you want the job the MOST, you will get it.

Thanks again everyone.

WSO is the only reason my GPA rose by 1 point and that I built a strong network.....and thus the only reason I got a solid SA offer (as well as interviews at top firms like GS & MS)

please excuse my ignorance, but how did you manage to increase your GPA by 1 point from help on here?

And yes, I wholeheartedly agree with the OP and personally have been following advices on MergerInquisition and started calling all available firms in my local area by looking up on Google Map, still waiting on responses. WSO has been of great help to me

I had a 2.4 first semester freshman year. I found this website, it put a huge chip on my shoulder and the motivation carried through to the classroom. Which really pushed my GPA upto a 3.4 and my Major to a 4.0

This is the best post I've seen on here in a while. This is so true. BE FUCKING PERSISTENT! Some advice on here says to be somewhat aloof, which is definitely the more professional approach when going through a hiring process; however if you haggle them a little you'll at least standout.

Let me go ahead and add to this. the actual forum has been tremendously helpful, but the guides have been EXTREMELY helpful.

i actually used them on their own and I got multiple IBD BB offers. No vault guide. So again, thanks!

personally, I think the threads on interviewing have so far been the best. If anything, the greatest I learned: purpose of aninterview isn't to inspect how much you know, but rather to give the MD's an opportunity to see if they like you. THerefore the behavioral questions should be the bulk of your preparations.........which is exactly what I practiced. I practiced them/thought about them to death. It also helped that I wasn't an econ major.....so I automatically stood out like a sucker, in a good way.

sometimes, just sometimes, it's good to be a little differnet.

Agree with johnnyd. I bought the 2 guides after 2 BB interviews and wished I had bought them earlier. Every question I got stumped on was in the guides. And yes, they did eventually help me get a BB SA position. Not to forget the help from fellow monkeys. Thanks guys!

WSO has helped me in a different way. I'm not following the common paths of trading or ibd, so it's not had much direct relevance to my job search. However, I'm a complete noob to the world of WS, and reading the posts on here (some really informative stuff by actual professionals like Bondard, IlliniProgrammer, BrotherBear and many others) has helped me get comfortable with the financial world. Plus, it makes for a good time-pass read during the day :).

Ya seriously. Exposure to this has really helped me know what to expect. Really I didn't know people could be so helpful e.g AnthonyD1982. Thanks to all you experienced guys and this forum I got a couple of internships!

DAMN coffeebateman way to go with the GPA raise.

WSO definitely gave me a better understanding as to what to expect during interviews and it's still helping me to this day, as I enter my summer internship. I couldn't have gotten a BB S&T SA gig without the help of people on the forums. Thanks!
