The Prodigal Son from David Bledin's 'Bank' - does he really exist?
There's a character in the book who is basically the son of one of the directors and gets away with 2 hour lunches, 9-5's and got promoted a year earlier than everyone else as well as earning a bigger bonus. My question is - does such a character really exist to that big of a degree? Wouldn't his actions be detrimental to the bank, as whatever project he's getting attached on will essentially be a man short? I know the author embellished somewhat but seeing as how the head of Barclay's daughter works as an IB analyst at Deutsche I wonder if she's getting the same experience.
