The Word ‘Man’ Is Banned At Princeton University
Students won't be punished for using it, but the world "man" is being removed from courses and school activities, being replaced by more gender-neutral terms.
Some may see this as an Orwellian side-step, unnecessarily blocking or destroying a useful term for the sake of political correctness. Others see it as a necessary state of evolution. Why, of course, do we use the word "man" to describe one gender and "wo-man" to describe the other. What's with the prefix? "Male" and "Fe-male" does the same thing. Seems like these words were created by men.
Using the words "man" and "woman" is still tolerated at Princeton and can still be used to identify gender, but the insidious imposition of the "man" term will be altered.
A memo from the school read “consistent with style guidelines issued by Princeton’s Office of Human Resources and Office of Communications, and as endorsed by the Institutional Equity Planning Group as a preferred University practice, HR has developed these gender inclusive style guidelines, to be utilized by all HR staff members in HR communications, policies, job descriptions, and job postings."
John Cramer, Princeton’s director of media relations, said the guidelines “reflect the university’s initiative of fostering an inclusive environment.”

Ever heard of political correctness gone mad? Because this is clearly another case.
Now, studying at Princepton isn't exactly cheap either. Considering this is the prevalent line of thought these days in most Ivy League colleges, is it worthy the price? Yes the name on the resume, yes the connections. However shouldn't we start to question the quality of education provided?
Prestige will get you farther in finance than quality of education.
And when you think that all this gender business started in 2013 - 2014 on the internet. The same way Trump is going to win because of the media.
Actually, it comes from a branch of feminism called ''intersectionality'', which goes back to the 70s and it could be summed up with ''everything done by the white man is evil''. However it has always been a fringe thing until recently, then for some reason it started going mainstream and took over the whole feminism movement.
If it was just feminazis, I wouldn't care. But the fact that the Insitutional Equity Planning Group endorsed it troubles me. Basically all the buzzward terms like diversity, inclusiveness etc. are becoming a synonym of ''white males are bad''. Then of course they get mad and vote Trump.
Maybe this just helps the competition. Schools like Duke/WUSTL/MIT (assuming this doesn't fly there) could see a boost
It's not as bad as it sounds from the headline. It most specifically pertains to written communications and especially those relating to job postings. So, get rid of things like mailman and write postal worker instead. They're not saying nobody can say the word 'man' anymore. I'm sure you read the article and know that though.
Does it go too far? Probably. Is it better to use terms like flight attendant instead of stewardess? Probably so as well.
Who gives a shit either way?
