These people must be confused...

Saw someone post this on Facebook this morning - these people must be seriously confused:

We are the 1 percent - We stand with the 99 percent
We stand with the 99%

One of these posts particularly caught my eye:
We are the 1%

Now, if you went from being at the point of society where you walk around collecting cans to feed yourself (props to you by the way for not just sitting there asking for a handout), and now have a nice corporate job with insurance and a wife with the same - isn't that a vindication of the system you seem to be so against? I'm missing something.

Or maybe I'm just pissed off that over 30% of my last paycheck went to state & federal taxes. Or both.

When I see signs reading "Stop the Tyranny of Capitalism and Free Markets", I know something is wrong. These people are primarily are foolish, emotionally driven, hippies. They have no concept of a system, capitalism and free markets, which are meant to drive an economy forward and provide them (the 99%) with jobs. These people are obviously filled with envy for those driving around in Maseratis. They have this childish belief that we live in some glass globe planet where everything should be perfect and no one should be better/richer than anyone else.

This is obviously a major disease of society, and it's alarming... Do they think the government will watch out for them? No, they probably think the government is shit too. They are jealous.(period) I wouldn't be so worked up about this , but the number of people taking part in this is alarming. What is this "We got sold out." To who? For what? Your tax money to the banks? Come on, you're probably in a tax bracket that doesn't even have to pay income tax. Would you like to have seen wide-spread systematic calamity? Again, they think we live in a system which could somehow generate growth without creating inequality.

If you're going to go asking for compassion and less greed, go ahead. But don't go rioting in my streets over non-sense. It's one thing for Syrians to protest for freedom and for Haitians to protest for food, but you're just being greedy.

I never thought there are so many socialists in this country....the situation is so much worse...my pops worked 7 days a week for 3 years without a vacation (except holidays) for me to finish college...noone thought about asking for free lunch and I grew up thinking this country was about getting to 1%...and now these socialists and communits get out of the closet...what a disappointment....in any case, I'll just keep working and living....fact is these losers can't survive without the 1%.

This pissed me off more then anything the OWS crowd has done.

These fucking trust fund babys are the same shitheads I see on Hollywood Blvd riding around in their daddy's Lambo or 500 Series acting like they are actually worth something to society.

Daddy gave you money, you have never had to work a day in your life and somehow you speak for the people who actually have to work and make a payroll every month.

It really sucks to be blessed with common sense.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

I am disgusted. If I ever have a kid that thinks like one of them I will disown him/her

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

Looked at some of these and I've come to the conclusion that they're just 99%ers posing as 1%ers

Also noticed that all of them were writing "TAX ME MORE." Given how most of these people are unemployed / working for soup kitchens / have no income and derive their wealth from personal inheritances, I fail to see how it's relevant

The thing that really pisses me off, had this argument with a family member recently. Any of these retards can give away their wealth, there is no law that says if it don't go to taxes you have to go out and buy lambo's or tour Europe last I checked.

I bet people on this site, give more to causes they believe in, tip cabs/bartenders/waitresses, lend friends/family money etc than retards on there who need the "government to force their taxes higher".

That's exactly what I was thinking... along with whoever brought up the trust fund thing. Most of those kids inherited money and they're about to act like the 1%? People take the terms 1% and 99% too literal it seems. Your daddy/mommy is the true 1%, you'd be the 99% if you weren't born with a shitload of money, so shut the fuck up.

I would love to know how many of these preachers actually donate their money and how much.

edit: http://westandwiththe99percent.tumblr.com/post/11446124421/i-was-given-…

HOW IS IT WRONG???? How do people come up with this shit?

All of these signs are getting on my nerves... the 99% have their pity stories and now some of these rich kids born into money seem like they're just bragging about what they've been able to do

If your dreams don't scare you, then they are not big enough. "There are two types of people in this world: People who say they pee in the shower, and dirty fucking liars."-Louis C.K.

EXACTLY.

If you give the government $1 extra in taxes, by the time it reaches a person who needs help, it will be 10 cents.

Remember the stimulus spending? American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/signs-stimulus/story?id=11163180

FUCKING $5MM spent on SIGNS!!

Rich people are completely free to donate their money. They are even given a tax incentive to do so. Why would you want to be taxed more since it will only go to funding an ever expanding government. Your additional tax funds will go to pay for a lavish federal pension, more $16 dollar muffins, maybe another $5MM in signs, etc.

If you want to help the poor, volunteer or donate DIRECTLY to them.

Forgive me for getting overly Philosophical here, but...

Metaphysically speaking, these people are considerably more reprehensible than the OWS-ers. These people are giving up their humanity, their rights to pursue their own happiness and own self-interests, because they have become so deluded as to place the happiness of others before their own. In-so-doing, they inherently place themselves beneath others, a practice which, if it were to happen en masse, would trigger the moral collapse of modern society.

Where I draw the line between the "We Stand With"-ers and the OWS-ers is that, in a twisted way, the OWS-ers can still argue that they are pursuing their own self-interests. Though it is still evil that they are demanding others give up on their own pursuits of self-interest, each member of OWS is still technically doing-so in the name of his or her own pursuit of it (though they would probably hate to admit it). Stated otherwise, the OWS-ers are demanding the altruism of others, while not actually practicing it themselves, whereas the WSW-ers have foregone their ability to reason and have abased themselves into practicing altruism.

Thus, though it is terrible that the OWS-ers are effectively betraying their fellow citizens, we see that the "We Stand With"-ers are betraying something much more sacred, themselves.

In conclusion, this whole fucking place is going to shit. Often, I really miss this chick:

“Millionaires don't use astrology, billionaires do”

What blows my mind is that these people are saying they are 1%'ers supporting 99%'ers, because they inherited like 250k from their parents. These hipsters don't even understand the lies they are telling.

And if you think being taxed is a more efficient form of supporting the poor/homeless than donating it directly, then I might support a confiscation of your assets. Well not really...but you're an idiot.

Few people raise my ire like the prototypical non-conformist trust fund babies that compose that site. Born into wealth, they've never had an appreciation for hard work, eating what you kill (or at least 70% of it), and the struggle that millions of people undergo to better themselves. Their inherited affluence paired with a distorted understanding of history leads them to believe that anything bourgeois is tainted and that it is their obligation to become benefactors of the 99%.

Of course through advocating well meaning policies such as minimum wage, cradle to grave welfare, paternalistic regulations, and various NGOs, they actively undermine all the natural avenues for people to improve their lot. This of course causes a vicious cycle of lost ability of self determination, mitigating investment in the future, and contempt replacing respect. Ultimately, this leads to further dependency and even greater levels of inequality. The trust funders then preach about how they "help" the lower classes in pathetic moments of self aggrandizing glory that stymies the self-loathing.

Yes there is an unhealthy level of income distribution in this country; too much concentration in the hands of undeserving pseudo-humanitarian tools and the crooks that use you as fronts.

Fucking disgusting and offensive. Only now do I understand why Jefferson wanted to redistribute inheritances.

Sorry for that rant but OWS and some of my own friends are making me feel rather ANTish about all of this.

Next time that you encounter one of them spouting this bullshit, tell them they have a wide array of options if they really want to spread the wealth:

Read a paper and find stories of people undergoing severe and unexpected hardship. Find out a way to help said people. Was a car stolen? Send them a rental. House burnt down? Put them up in a hotel. All of this can be accomplished within a day and you get to cut out the middleman (the govt.)

micro finance - make a loan to a business in the developing world. I did a MF internship in LatAm and was able to give loans to entrepreneurs for their ventures. Well over 80% were mothers needing a loan for a coffee shop, farm, bicycle rental, etc. so that they could feed their kids. There is a 98.7% repayment rate. You might even make some money!

volunteer abroad - teach english, build schools, drill wells. You'll be totally immersed in a foreign culture and will get a good experience.

Once they refuse or begin weaving excuses out of thin air, smile and watch them squirm. They don't want to help anyone, they want you to help someone.

Bravo man. With cunts posting shit like this I almost support the inheritance tax.

Anyone who is rich can simply give their wealth away. Why wait for the government to take it. Honestly, if anyone things raising taxes on the top 1% by 10-20-30% will make a measurable difference in the lower class lives is out of their mind.

People are just blind. If this country falls under the spell of these progressives it truly deserves to die and be replaced by hungrier people. Americans are fat, lazy and entitled. We don't deserve to be the best anymore.

Well, it seems as if they are all confused on exactly what they want. I heard one guy say that he thought the government should give him everything and then another said he wanted a solar panel pipeline across the country. They just want their 15 minutes of fame.

As a non-American, I think I find these attitudes depressing for different reasons. Having lived in a country where such attitudes are fairly common place, and been to and enjoyed countries which have institutionalised them, I nevertheless think that, for America, the same course would be sad. I realise the attitudes of the masses are not swayed by such reason, but why retard American ideals just so you can live like Europe does? Everyone loves the tax-more-spend-more social market, but pretty much every country has one. For those of us who would like to do something with our lives, can't there at least be one country where this is possible?

These protesters are so stupid for blaming Wall Street for their problems. Of course we got a bailout, it was a long time coming and well deserved after all the taxes we've been paying. If anything, they should be thanking us.

These people need to learn how to fix their own problems. So what if public education isn't good enough for you? Go to private school then. Public transportation not working? Buy a car. So what if you're unemployed? Learn how to invest.
