Thoughts on Dressing for Bay Street at various levels in Capital Markets

Is it just me? Or do Bay Streeters tend to dress extremely conservative? Been monitoring what I've seen for awhile and more likely than not have I seen plain navy/grey/black colored, double button, notched lapel suits. It isn't too often but you'll see pinstripes and/or peaked lapels.

Is it taboo to wear double-breasted suits? What about double-breasted pinstripe suits? I might have seen this twice and thought it looked awesome - just not comfortable wearing it if I'll stick out like a sore thumb. I'm asking because I'll be seeing my tailor sometime soon to update my wardrobe now that I'm an Associate in Equity Research and currently interested in having something that isn't as described above.
