Thoughts on FinTech?
Hey all,
A brief intro - I'm a junior with a respectable S&T internship in NYC this summer (non-BB but respectable nonetheless). I've been thinking a lot about my future aspirations - I've wanted a BB IB gig since I first was exposed to the banking world during the fall of my sophomore year. However, with the downsizing of headcount across front office functions and the heavy automation of banking (mostly S&T operations now but IB to come?), I'm curious as to whether it is in my best interest to try to pursue some sort of line of service that involves and automated aspect of finance (i.e. dark pool, agency broker-dealer, etc.)
If anyone has any thoughts on the matter I'd love to kick around a few ideas.
Thanks and be well!

There was a WSO webinar on Fintech a week or two back. It was pretty good. I think the free rebroadcast is coming soonish, so keep your eyes peeled.
was the playback of the fintech video ever posted? Is it still available somehow?
Awesome - thanks guys!

What banks have done the most FinTech deals? Also does Fintech fall under FIG or TMT?
My guess is Goldman simply off the fact that both their FIG and TMT groups are obviously strong...
Citi and Baml are strong too. On the boutique side Greenhill and FTP have done some big deals.
Also really depends on the bank and type of fintech but what I've seen both TMT and FIG.
It depends on the bank, but you will usually have both TMT (or whatever tech group the bank has) and FIG. Depending on the size of the deal, you might get MDs from both groups actively involved.

Hey WSO,
I have a call with a FIG banker later today, and was hoping I could gain some insight on the FinTech sector since that is the vertical that he works in. Does anyone know where to find news / industry overview of the Fintech sector? Any of all advice is greatly appreciated.
