Career Resources
Are you looking at coverage groups in your current sector? Current geography? Have you seen a lot of deals go through? Are you currently in an MBA program?
Its possible that moving to a coverage group in your sector would be really easy, but as you start adding more variables it might get tough. If you wanted to move to a completely different sector, move from NYC to SF, and are trying to make a job function switch (Corp-->IB) then I would imagine you would run into more trouble. I am just speculating on most of this, but I think you are in good shape.
I wouldnt worry about the fact that most people(and especially 19 year olds on this site) would trash anybody that wants to move into IB from corp dev. I know bankers that went from Corp dev--->IB or PE---->IB, and plenty others that had options to go to the buy side and chose not to.

Socrates have you spent any time in IBD? Just wondering if you IBD -> CD and are glad you made the move, or if you are content with your CD role and don't see the upside in lateraling to a bank.
I have, but to be honest, I don't see an upside in banking with my career/life goals. I'm more of a guy who focuses on a company for a few years then laterals, I'm fine with slow deal flow/execution.
To you, I think you like a little more deal flow in your life and a little more exposure to things on a short term basis, which is awesome! This is probably the right move for you, I think people who say "I want to be a career banker" are the ones that really mean it.
