To those in banking, how do you stay energized during work?
Given the lack of sleep we get in the industry, it takes a toll on the ability to stay focused during those long hours. I am pretty focused in the morning, but I start drifting in the afternoon. How do stay energized throughout those hours? I know coffee works, but what other options are there? Any healthier solutions? I am not trying to drink a monster everyday and see my heart explode.
I sort of encounter/encountered the same issue. Maybe drink water or chew on ice. It helped me for a little bit. Chewing cum too.
Uhhhhhh... To each his own?
Not exactly what I was going for, but hey I won't judge you.
When you're feeling sleepy, get out of your chair and immediately start doing a set of 10 squat jumps, followed by 10 handstand push-ups. Back flip your way to the restroom, wash your face, then calmly walk back to your seat. Works every time.
I've found that drinking ice cold water is a good way to stay awake without a) looking weird b) consuming too much caffeine. Downside obviously is that you will have to use the bathroom a lot but that sort of helps you stay awake too...
find a good spot in the office and take a 20 min nap around 3-4pm
try Cum Gum, by Nestle
Eat healthy, try to work out, drink enough water.
I'm in banking since a few months and although the hours are terrible from time to time, I can count my cups of coffee on two hands. I only grab a cup of coffee when I'm totally fucked up due to the lack of sleep, that way the caffeine retains its effect (at least for me). Furthermore, I walk around in the office quite a lot, to the bathroom, to chat with some of the analysts or just to the printer (print a few slides from time to time to have a reason to walk to the printer) or grab some snacks like fruits or cereals in the kitchen.
Your name..Do you like Above & Beyond music ? Just curious.
Yeah, I do. I'm actually hearing their essential mix right now at work.
I'm not trolling: Try replacing caffeine in the morning with an apple. Apples are known to help destabilize adenosine. Also, drinking water obviously helps. Drink coffee following your lunch meal or 1pm, which ever is later. For the all nighters, addy works very well to keep you up but not hyper.
I take b12 pills -- seems to help, although this could be an ineffective home remedy.
Cocaine, Ritalin, Adderall
