Top headhunter asked for names of colleagues?
A top headhunter recruiting exclusively to top firms (hence I'm keen to build a good relationship) called me and asked for a meeting. Pulled my details and asked me to provide CV etc.
All good.
Then the headhunter emailed and asked for a list of names of colleagues in certain teams.
Now, I'd be quite uncomfortable handing that out. For one, I'd be fired, but it's also quite inappropriate and not sure I'd like to place someone with a firm who gives out name of colleagues like that.
What do you guys think? Have you experienced this? Is this common?

Don't give them to him.
Don't give them the names. Some HHunter wants some reference but 1-2 is fine but don't give more than that.
It's just that usually if you've been with a firm for a few years, perhaps switched teams one or twice, and worked with a lot of different people, you tend to know a person or two who are looking, anyways. I think that's all he's talking about.
If he is asking for a long list of all the firm's employees/phone numbers/contact details, DON'T WALK, RUN. He represents big firms? Tell him to call you back if he ever needs to get some money out of Nigeria.
I just pass on the resumes of people I know who are looking for work. Never trust them too much though. They get paid to move people around and don't care about you or your company.
