trading the news
Hey monkeys:
So, I'm seriously considering S&T, particularly trading in something like a hedgefund or prop trading as a career path.
I only have one problem.
Well, let me put it this way--I have 2 but one is being resolved as I write this.
First, I have no track record--but I'm working on one. I'm trading on my own and building up a record for myself that I'd be able to show recruiters, etc.
The second one is a bit of a bigger problem.
Right now I'm trading a combination strategy I developed myself, based on my own knowledge of my industry, in this case tech, along with my own research and fundamental analysis.
So far so good, except I'm doing swing/position trading because (A) I don't have the capital to meet rule T, and secondly, I can't do chart-based intra-day-trading because I'm blind, as in totally blind, no sight whatsoever, and the tech I use in order to access everything on the computer can't read charts, symbolic (candle stick) or otherwise.
I have heard of a strategy that some use called trading the news--trading on Federal Reserve announcements, and general economic, global and geopolitical news.
That would be doable for me if I had the capital, since I could use Bloomberg or a similar site to get my information depending on what I'm trading and react accordingly.
my question is, is it enough to build an executionstrategy and one that would be able to be used in a hedgefund/prop trading kind of situation?
