Finding Trading Winternships?
Tried looking for a post like this but couldn't find much. Looking for any trading winternships for this winter, either at a prop trading firm or at an S&T desk at a bank. have interned at a trading firm before, just want something to do this winter. thanks for any help!
Jane Street, Five Rings, and HRT all have winterships although they are all pretty competitive to get.
Anyone know of anything else, or have any advice/thoughts about the winternships at those places? Definitely plan on applying to Jane Street and Five Rings.
I just checked Jane Street's website and couldn't find any available winternships
Tower Research has an off-cycle internship but I think it's during the Spring. Edit: Just looked it up, you need to be a PhD for Tower.
The interviews at all of these places are extremely difficult. HRT will be the most technical of the 3, they have no "traders" there, just algorithm developers. Five Rings was started by an ex-JSC guy so the flavor is a little more similar to it, but from my experience, Jane Street interviews are more like puzzles.
Jane Street's winternship is much larger and more structured than Five Rings. Historically, both winternships were overwhelmingly from MIT/Harvard although I'm not sure if it has diversified. The HRT winternship was new this year and is HRT's first attempt at an internship program. I think IMC may also have experimented with short winter internships but I'm not familiar with the details.
trading winter/spring internship? (Originally Posted: 11/01/2010)
Im in a predicament, 1 year out of school and done perusing a startup, hence currently i have plenty of free time. I want a trading position at a BB but do not have any internship experience.
What I gather is that my current option is apply for a summer internship, summer 2010, and then if successful after the internship start FT summer 2012. Thats a long time, are there other paths for the out of school analysts, like a winter or spring internship, even unpaid at a BB?
we took a winter intern this past year
Any advice as to the process and what made you choose that candidate for the winter, how many applicants per offered seat or was it mainly a position filled by those with a connection on the inside?
Also interested in the application process for winter internships.
bump.
Anyone know if your bank offers non-summer internships and how to apply?
