I did the TTS program, too. I think most banks use them.
That is pretty standard -- Training the Street is the best program but if you haven't done the work before it can take a while. Better to suffer through it in training than on the job
Yes Im having it too and am curious what its like
best aspect of the program is the ability to stay in touch with the trainers afterwards...they are very helpful with questions and so forth
kol same here
Citigroup doesn't use Training the Street...we don't get much homework and are out pretty early (around 5:30/6)
had Training the Street as well...lucky you got out by midnight every night
How long does it take to complete the TTS training?
TTS is a great program. There is no way you were there until midnight every night. If you were there everything until midnight you probably needed more guidance or help. YOu should only have had 2 hours (max 3) of homework a night on top of the 9-5 class.
I took a valuation and modeling course with them and found it very helpful. Great instructors, lots of BB use them, and a good concise format.
I think most of the firms are using Training the Street, but you shouldn't be there until midnght every night. did scott rostan teach your course?
Could some one do me a favour and email me the TTS excel and other files? Would be much appreciated thanks. [email protected]
How many different trainers are there with TTS?
Also, anybody out there had Wall St. Training w/ Hamilton?
My friend took TTS, but I was closed out, so went to The Analyst Exchange. It was great, there are no 6 hour days, no one gets out at midnight.
They courses are set up like a "virtual classroom" (as they call it) where you dial into skype for the lessons, so you can take them from your room. The lectures were also separated from workshop sessions where you work directly with a trainer going through the model. It's great because it give you the ability to work at you own speed.
Also you can take the classes whenever you want not all in one week...it's definitely for me at least a better learning format that 6 hour lectures
Does TTS offer claases to the public where anyone can take them if you pay?
Yes but only 2x a year. (I could be wrong).
At The Analyst Exchange you can take them whenever you'd like
What is the cost for taking a TTS like program and are there any other good training programs?
But TTS is by far the best. took it as an anlayst and associate
Can't argue that because I never took it, but my friend who took TTS was up until midnight every night and paid 2x what I did. I ended up landing a job at Morgan Stanley as a Math major (I can't justify it was due to the courses but I learned everything I needed to know) www.theanalystexchange.com (if that's still it)
Hmm...I just took the free lecture at the Analyst Exchange. It does look like an interesting approach. I don't see why you have to be up until midnight for 5 days straight for a modeling course when you can take it via skype at your time. They're also pretty flexible about refunds if I don't like it, so I think I'll give it a try....let you know
I thought it was great
(Analyst Exchange i mean)
They had offered free lectures at out school. I'm deciding if I should take the whole program.
My take was that it was clear that they went through (and trained) analyst programs as they have a very nice way of explaining things in a way that anyone would understand using simple but complete examples.
I also liked the material. Very sufficient, to the point, with minimal repetitions. I usually lose mycconcentration when I see too many simple examples.
The new analysts took Dealmaven, and they seem pretty buschleague in excel compared to my class who took TTS.
I'm looking for something to take over the winter break. I've narrowed it down to:
1) TTS 2) Analyst Exchange 3) Swiss 4) wall st. prep
Anybody know anything?
There is also Adkins Matchett & Toy: http://www.amttraining.com/
Spin23: does Training the street offer classes during the winter break? Man, I just found out they held a seminar at my school last weekend, and I missed it!
I think the do in New York. I'm also looking into the analyst exchange. My friend's doing it now. He's says its about the same as Training the Street, but you work live with a trainer via internet...so, i guess no timing constraints?? It's much cheaper too. They came to our school for a free lecture which was helpful, but want more feedback if anyone's got it.
Does anyone know of a BB that doesn't use TTS?
my bank uses TTS. if you weren't a finance/accounting major in college, you will find the course to be interesting. otherwise, in my opinion, it is more of the same, and you can use your time in training to relax.
streetmonkey, one of my friends started at Citi, and i don't think he used TTS.
Are you sure any of the BB's use TTS? My brother worked at a BB and he said the VP's and Senior Analysts put together the training program. I heard the same from one or two other places, but not sure about all.
i interned at a BB this past summer in IBD - we had about 3 days of TTS training, and someone from the firm came in briefly to speak about firm-specific modeling conventions.
the instructor was very entertaining. would have slept through the entire thing otherwise (and i'm not a finance major)
i am going to start work with a PE-type fund pretty soon. I think they would pay for all training if I asked since they dont have formal training program. Does anyone know if its possible to do something like Training on the Street or any of the other in-class programs without being an analyst for top bb firm? thanks
