Hi,

So I just got a 1st round for one of my dream jobs in banking / corporate dev. On my resume when I applied, I had around a 3.5, and this was my grades from 2 semester ago. The last semester (spring) before my summer internship wasn't finalized due to a horrific event where one of my friends committed suicide at school and I delayed my finals until the first couple weeks of this semester. I received an A in one of my classes because there was no final for that specific class, but I have taken my finals last week and absolutely bombed them (probably because re-learning 5 courses worth of material was very difficult), and my GPA now sits at around a 3.4 since the finals were 40/50% of the final grades for those courses. Now that I received my 1st round, I am asked to provide a copy of my most updated transcript.

What should I do? I don't really want to lose out on this opportunity and I was wondering should I just say my school doesn't hand out transcripts until I graduate? Or should I tell them this story? I feel that if I do tell them this story, it would only make me a weak candidate and put me at a disadvantage. What should I do?

well because i had 1 A and the other 5 classes were undecided, i put 3.6 because i felt confident that it would stay around there. i saw my grades from the finals graded today, and my gpa has dropped to a 3.37.

my transcript before had N/A on the 5 classes but now it has the full released grades, which ruins my gpa. this is the reason why i don't know what to do.

A 3.4 is not a "ruined" GPA. Frankly, any place that would consider you "ruined" without asking what happened first is not worth your time. If they have any questions HR will reach out to you while reviewing your file or give you feedback in the decline. Perfect opportunity to clarify the discrepancy and if they don't understand: fuck it, we aren't all made of stone.
