When you apply to a bank for an internship in UK they ask for your high school grades and they also ask if you are on track for a 2:1
I can understand and expect them asking for high school transcripts but, do they also ask for your first year transcripts to check of you are on track for a 2:1?
The first year does not count so I am interested to see whether they would still check to see your progress?
Do they ask for second year grades so far?

No, most places don't check anything, make sure you get 2.1 at graduation though.

I only know of a few places that asked grades during application (CS), but if never heard anyone getting asked for a transcript out of the blue. I don't think the background check can get it from your school either.
I assume they do check your final degree class at graduation i.e before you enter as a 1st year...
The first year did not go as planned because it was first year and doesn't count towards anything. The second year is good bar one or two exams. I only have transcripts for first year but that doesnt count
They don't ask for transcripts. Only certain banks in certain divisions (I think tech at MS) ask for them. As long as you get a 2.1 in your degree.
People have gotten low 2.2s in their first year and still gotten SA jobs. Just be honest if it asks for grades. HR very rarely give a flying fudge but you might have the odd analyst who'll notice the 58 on your accounting module and ask what happened.

@£IB£ - the comments above are correct. Loads of banks/boutiques my friends went to ask for a transcript - so long as you get an overall 2:1 your good to go.
Ok thanks for your reply I was so confused because banks ask if you are on track for a 2:1. I am on track for a 2:1 in the second year. The second year counts so it is good. The first year doesnt count and noone gives a shit. BUT for some retarded reason some places insist on on your transcripts from the first year loool.
Wait, posters above are saying one thing and you are saying another thing. They said that banks do not ask for transcripts/not check anything. You, however, say they do. Which one is it?
On a side not to OP - if you submit grades during your application, which are lower than the required ones, you will have a problem (most likely rejection). If you don't have to do it, I would suggest you skip it. I know from personal experience that I got rejected because of that once. And later when my overall GPA went up, there was no problem at all and nobody gave a fuck about specific grades.
There is usually an option, in case that your grades are lower than required, to explain the "extenuating circumstances" as they call it. If your grades are lower and you have a good reason for it, either skip uploading transcripts or fill that field out.
@£IB£ - they ask as a sanity check: have you failed modules? can you realistically get a 2:1 if you are scoring 40% in first/second year modules? (I'm not saying you are but these are the type of questions in their mind I would imagine). I wouldn't worry too much - just submit what you have got. Good luck!

@yesbrainer Sorry I should have been more clear. For internships they typically don't ask for any proof (there are exceptions). However several of my friends have been asked to their final transcript after graduation (if they converted to FT) so it can be kept on file (I'm assuming they keep it for future reference eg for promotions). They do something similar with your updated CV.
I agree with your other paragraphs though. In the UK everyone's expecting a first haha and almost all firms don't require you to upload your transcript.
