Transfer Student Needing Direction

I just transferred to a state school in Southern California. It's not a target school. However, it has a reputable accounting program. I'm an economics major and I have aspirations to work in IBD. I absolutely have my mind set on this. With that in mind:

What are things I need to do now to give myself a shot when I don't have the big school name?

As far as the kind of major I have? Should I switch to Accounting? Do I plan on a masters program? What do they look for when looking for interns?

I read a lot of finance and investment articles and books in my spare time to help my knowledge and understanding but I'm pretty new to this field and I'm looking for any help or insight I can get.
