Transportation, Shipping, & Logistics

Does anyone know what major banks have solid dealflow in this area? Also, is Morgan Stanley the lone bank with an independent transportation team that isn't siloed under a broader industrials group?

On the shipping side (can't speak to the broader transportation & logistics side), you've got mainly European banks (say HSH Nordbank, Commerzbank, DNB, Nordea, RBS) but a lot of them have taken a hit lately and aren't as active/aggressive. On the American side, Jefferies is active, so is Evercore, and Morgan Stanley as well. JP Morgan also has an Asset Management team focused on shipping out of London and recently resumed analyst coverage of the industry. There are also a handful of smaller niche banks that are very active in the space that don't chase the larger deals that the big boys do such as DVB, ABN AMRO, Clarkson Capital Markets, Pareto Securities, CIT, Arctic Securities, and Nord LB.

Morgan Stanley London, one of their top groups there for sure.

Not sure about other banks tho..

It's pretty strong in the US as well. Met a couple alumni working in their Transportation group and they've got some good dealflow. However this was about a year ago, so things may have changed.
