Traveling to North Korea is officially forbidden

About 5,000 Western tourists visit North Korea each year, with roughly one-fifth of them U.S. citizens, according to Simon Cockerell, general manager of Koryo Tours, which has been bringing visitors to North Korea since 1993.

Who the hell actually visits North Korea... I can't even begin to understand WHY you would do this unless you're a diplomat or are protected by some organization of sort. Not like it matters anyways, cause now no one can go.

I bet going to North Korea must be a pretty freaky experience, I'm guessing that's the reason why people go (still stupid though). I mean honestly, it's basically a death trap waiting to happen, lol.

  1. If you found yourself in a company who wanted to do some freaky business in North Korea and needed to send you over to meet someone, would you do it?
  2. How would you feel during the group tour the government will hoist you through?

Personally I'd be freaked out beyond imagine, we all know the group tour is all a lie... that people are deliberately perpetrating. Freaky stuff.

I would have zero interest in going to North Korea, if my company were doing business with them I would start looking for a new job asap. I can imagine the tours show the best parts of the country and not the life of the average citizen.

I can't seem to find the documentary I was shown in school a few years ago, but I specifically remember the documentary showed what a ghost town even Pyongyang is. It's so freaky; he was filming the roads from an empty hotel and there was literally no one except a single lady who was conducting "traffic"... she just kept moving around aimlessly for nothing in particular. There was also a room of little girls playing music in some government building while being conducted by no one; I think they assembled them specifically for the tour of that one dude.

I wish I could find the documentary to show you! But no luck :(. Even the "best" parts of the country was still enough to spook me.

I could see how that would be the case. I saw something on the news about an eye doctor that went and performed some very basic procedures. All the people he worked on thanked their dear leader not even the doctor (unless that was edited out).

First of all, my book would be YUGE, not little. I write the best books, they're beautiful books, many people are saying everybody loves them.

Second of all, people go to North Korea and make it back all the time. Some do write books. There was a guy (whose name escapes me) on the Joe Rogan podcast who did. You just can't be a celebrity or author when you go because if they find out while you're there you are basically screwed.

You mean getting released from prison in a coma then dieing is not in your immediate plans?

Edit: I think Michael Jordan would be given fairly good treatment as well.

Banning travel to the DPRK is just another Trump administration trick to mitigate the impact of Darwinism on middle America, just like with school choice and all the anti-foreigner sentiment his administration engenders. By keeping his voter base in the gene pool, he's helping to ensure a successful future run for POTUS for one of his kids.

in it 2 win it

Hold on, I dislike Trump but this was a smart decision.

American tourists provide tons of dollars to a brutal regime and some are taken as a negotiation tactic. These hostages then cause a massive headache for the State Department and we waste a massive amount of resources getting the morons back. There is absolutely no reason to allow Americans into North Korea.

It's a political loss prevention tactic. There's no political gain from rescuing those morons except perhaps for Dennis Rodman, but there's definitely political loss for letting them get waterboarded to death out there in a prison camp. Trump's agenda right now is to ratchet up pressure on NK so he can push toward military conflict, because that historically does wonders for a president's short-term ratings. You're right that it causes a headache, but it's not about money or resources.

in it 2 win it

For real? Who over there even has the energy to play ball? And more importantly, besides Rodman, who can actually dunk?

I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing. See my Blog & AMA

Why stop people from going? You can't help stupid.

There are thousands of examples like this: http://metro.co.uk/2017/06/28/pregnant-mum-kills-boyfriend-in-youtube-b…

There is no end to trying to help these people from drowning. They'll just find another way off the boat. All it does is waste your (i.e. the government's) time and resources.

I haven't been there, but I can assume it is somewhat similar to Beijing plus extra government surveillance. I wouldn't go to conduct business because I'd prefer to remain happy and healthy. Besides, I don't want to die in the hands of commies.

Lol China is leagues and leagues above North Korea... Beijing is habitable, for starters... Like the other user said, China doesn't have a great human rights record but for the most part people can still find contentment and at least a decent living there.

ALSO, Beijing has cool stuff to go see so consider that!

I have been to Beijing and the atmosphere, especially around Mao's mausoleum and around the government centers are rather tense. The farther you go from downtown Beijing the better things get. The fancy food street is awesome.

I would only go to NK if the country is one day liberated from the dictatorship (tough to happen). Tbh NK gals look cute, you might as well find a gf. More likely NK gals will be grateful for simple things you give her than many of the western chicks that need superficial and expensive stuff to feel some degree of gratefulness.

I guess if you're American it is a foolish idea, as they systematically will try to find an excuse to detain you I guess. However, for all other countries, I think it is safe - and I would want to travel to DKP.

That being said there was a good travel series on North Korea last year (something like travel with Louis or something) - seemed pretty awesome.

DaisukiDaYo:
Do they even allow you to go ? I know there are very strict guided tours that show you the coast of NoKo and the one or two buildings over 5 floors they have.

DBCooper - Asian chicks love anything Korean right now, which is where I think Mr.Saxman derives his motivation from.

I think they like anything SOUTH Korean, if I ever mentioned North they will give me the weird look. So no, once again, my motivation is not to get ladies lol

There is nothing adventurous about North Korea. I went to their mountain resort, Kum Kang San, in 2007 and everything is scripted. You only interact with your 'minders' and select North Korean 'civilians'.

I've also thought about visiting; however, right now is not the right time -- not worth the risk. You could very well find yourself on the news as an international hostage.

Just watch the youtube videos == you can see the whole staged tour that you'd go on.

"They are all former investment bankers that were laid off in the economic collapse that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have no marketable skills, but by God they work hard."

Determined:
If you have the funds to fly to Beijing and book a guided tour, do it. Bad decisions make great stories.

That's the thing. I will be in Beijing travelling already.

It sounds like a cool experience, as long as it's not a death decision, I am sure it will be a great story

If you really want to go, you should check out the Vice TV's "Guide to North Korea." In the film, a reporter documents how he snuck into the country despite being denied a visa from every embassy he visited. After seeing the documentary however, you might now want to go there. You'll be forced to go on a guided tour of the state accompanied by bodyguards at all times. The food is absolute garbage and you won't have much to do in your free time. If you still want to go though, just do what that reporter did.

If I did what the reporter did I will be captured as a hostage for sure lol. The key thing is I look/am Chinese (don't N.Koreans dig that shit?) so I doubt they will kill me if I go with tourist groups in China. It's just that if they happen to declare war on US when I am there for a few days then its pretty fked
