Triple Major?
As a rising junior, I have been trying to plan out some sort of plan of action for the next four semesters and there is a possibility that I could convert a minor in a major with the remaining credits that I have. Would there be any merit to doing this/would I come off kind of douchey saying that I have a triple major? Or would I be better served using my reminaing credits to pursue other interests? Thoughts?
Thanks
do you have a double already? if so, I'd spend more time away from school doing internships/working and just take less credit hours. double major plus a minor is more than enough.
i haven't completed my two majors yet, but i'm at a point where i will easily be able to complete them and the minor without having to worry about taking any extra classes and will have credits to spare. I have been interning both part-time during the school year and full-time this summer and last. i'm hesitant to take less credit hours only because of academic pursuits (ie. university/ departmental honors).
Dizaamn, how many majors and minors do you need?
haha that reaction is basically why I am asking the question. i picked up my second major because of a combination of marketability and genuine interest in the curriculum.
At this point, if you don't go p̶l̶a̶i̶d̶ quad major it's a missed opportunity.
What are the majors?
If it's not going to be too difficult it wouldn't hurt but if you already have a decent double major and you'd have to work hard for the third I'd just relax and coast as much as you can and get the highest GPA possible. For example if the third major is astrophysics and you're going to have to bust your balls and it won't make much of a difference in your career goals, just take a bunch of basket weaving courses to boost your GPA and have some fun.
Majors are finance and business intelligence and minor is economics. I've gotten a lot of exposure to statistics and different relevant software programs through my BI program that I'm hoping I will be able relay that into my econometrics class this semester and economic forecasting the following.
My thinking was that if I don't pursue a third major in Econ, then I will try to take some advanced stat classes or more quantitative classes to further my experience in that direction. Thanks for your thoughts
The only way I could see a triple major being at all useful is if you wanted to be some sort of quant. Then you could triple major in something like finance, computer science, and applied math.
This is what I’m working towards. I am majoring in Finance, Computer Science, and Mathematics and I would like to be a quant trader. I was going to include data science as well because it is a lot of overlap but when I posted my scenario I got a lot of negative feedback about having more than two majors being a bad thing. If I go with the 3 I stated will that hurt my chances and would I be better off just picking 2 of the 3?
Business Intelligence sounds like bull to me, especially if you're already pursuing a finance major.
The actual curriculum of the major isn't bull but I will admit it's a pretty cheesy name. I like it for the data analysis aspect of it through different uses of statistics and econometrics and I picked up a working knowledge of SQL and QBE for databases(mostly access and oracle), different stat and data analysis softwares and will be taking a course on VBA. The other part of the curiculum is information systems which I don't mind because of a personal interest in the subject.
Dude. Just get your one major with a GPA over 3.5. Then work on your networking. That's what is the most important aspect when getting into this business
Got the 3.5, just trying to build up my skill set. But I get what you mean and where you're coming from. Thanks, @"MN guy"
