He probably wanted to get a first hand view of what starcraft was like irl.

ZING!

I'm totally kidding, I probably played starcraft more as a kid than 95% of koreans.

You have to make a much longer commitment than one summer for the army.

Pretty fucking retarded to go into a highly hostile warzone "just to check it out" though. Oh well, maybe Darwinism did it's thing.

I don't get why everyone's bagging on this kid. You mad that he has more balls than 99% of us? He asked for an adrenaline-filled summer, and I'm pretty damn sure he got it.

Maybe it's 99% of WSO has more brains? Doesn't take a freaking genius to see this is ignorant.

If I thought he had planned it out a bit, I'd give him props, but he didn't. He went into an extremely dangerous and active war zone. He can barely communicate with the people around him. He went there with very little money.

Everything points to a lack of common sense. Is it going to be a cool experience? Yes. Was there a lot of stupid involved? Yes.

This is one of those style over substance things. He will impress anyone he tells this story to. But, in reality he's just a cheerleader.

Still...

U-C-LLLL-A, U-C-L-A, fight, fight, fight.

lol only on WSO would responses be "sick interview/essay story"

Perhaps for christmas break some of us can band together and send a platoon to syria to aid the uprising. How would one put that on a resume?

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Free Syrian Army, Syria
Volunteer Muharrir, Winter 2011 - commanded brigade of FSA fighters in direct combat with syrian army - developed and organized ad hoc military unit for siege of damascus - shadowed FSA brass in day to day operations as well as long term strategy - personally installed post-revolution military junta

It's not whether this kid has more balls or not. Join the fucking Marines instead.

This shit is no different than some kid joining the VTech Korean in that massacre a few years back because he was filming a documentary and wanted to "get in the mind of a killer" for authenticity.

"This is one of the few real revolutions, I just thought I’d come check it out." ...the fuck? you just thought? i might as well go check out any upcoming wars because i played some call of duty modern warfare shit and had a really good kill spread. or maybe i want to be a true Broski among my SAE boys and act all hard. Darwin came close to hanging out with this kid. Maybe in a few months or something.
