Career Resources
Targets Oxbridge LSE, UCL, Imperial, Warwick
Semi-targets Bristol, Durham, St Andrews, Bath, Nottingham
The rest
This is assuming job placement in IBD btw. If you want any job, any of the unis listed is fine. Fairly sure about the targets, semi-targets people can make a case for a few more or less.
Good list, only you're forgetting Cass Business School, Manchester, Edinburgh, KCL and nowadays Loughborough/Exeter in the semi-target bracket.
you prolly wanna make that post once you actually have offers from all those
Oxbridge
LSE/UCL
Imperial, STEM only/Warwick, Econ only
Rest
Hi, I graduated from LSE and cass and now going for phd in uea. what will you say are my chances for IB?
If you want to get into IB, why are you planning of pursuing a PHD, unless you want to go into something highly quant? Anyway, LSE and Cass are good brands, not so much UEA but as long as your undergrad/MSc were at a combo of Cass and LSE then doubt a weaker brand PHD will go against you.
Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, Imperial, UCL, Warwick > Targets
Bristol, Durham, Nottingham, Cass, Edinburgh > Targeted by some, not all
KCL, Manchester, Bath, Exeter, St. Andrews, York > Not much difference between this group and the one above, but you tend to see less guys from these universities in IB
Agreeing but I would put Cass over Bristol/Durham/Nottingham and Edinburgh. See the JP/GS/MS class of 2017. A lot of ppl from Cass, more than these other unis
Does this matter? All placed in the same bucket in this case. Plus, your argument is based on 1 year of stat, assuming it's correct, it's still quite meaningless.
Just Oxbridge is the real differentiation here.
Target: Oxbridge, LSE, LBS, IBS Semi Tier 1: Warwick, UCL Semi Tier 2: Cass Semi Tier 3: Edinburgh, Bristol, Durham, Nottingham
IMHO best placement in UK (especially for non experienced monkeys) is offered by LBS career service.
UCL is a target imo, especially for undergrad
Warwick imho is at the same level of Imperial. May I ask why did you rank it as semi-target? Every bank recruits on campus, and lots of students land IB internships.
One more question: could you explain what are your basis for addressing LBS as the best career service? Pure curiosity here, I am considering the MFA or MiM for 2018 intake but am still unsure (MFA is quite new, no statistics yet).
Thanks!
Cuz I ranked WBS as strong semi only due to their location. Is a great school, no doubts. A lot of OCR and the brand equity's strong.
Anyway, LBS has a career service that go over these Unis, especially if you haven't work experience. They have a lot of partners, OCR, workshops, events and so on. Try to ask to some guys there and they'll share to you their experience. If you know the London job market you'd trusted me
Cheers
where would bocconi place?
Mate, we're talking about UK. Anyway, Bocconi is very strong
