Undergrad: UIUC, UWM or UCSB?
Hello,WSO
I am now admitted to UIUC, UWM and UCSB, in the waillist of Boston College, all majoring in Economics. I really hope to break into IB, but I don't know which school would get me better chance. I know that UIUC has engeneering programs, and decent business school too, but I not sure if it will be necessary to change my major. I am inclined to UIUC, althought the sea and social scene in UCSB are really awosome.
I am fine with either working in Chicago or west coast, the only concern is just about which school would present the better opportunities.
It's pretty hard for me to decide! What do you guys think?
Thanks!
you're right that they're probably more or less similar..
if you don't go to BC do you plan to transfer before you earn your degree? also, which ones offer a decent access to large metro areas? (I think UIUC to Chicago is about 2.5 hours)
I am thinking about transfer, but I don't know if it wort a try. And With SB, it will be easier to transfer to school like UCLA, but I don't know about uiuc.
I think UCSB is also about 2 hours to LA.
It's honestly those are all too similar to choose on which presents better opportunities. If I were you I'd go to SB and have a blast. Just try to kill it on the grade front.
So you mean it would be easier to get high GPA in SB? I heard that SB recruiting is not good though...
if you want transfer, better have that high GPA to blash all oppositions.
A big metro area is your backup safety... schools like Fordham are not that reputated, but they really grab the benefits of being in NYC.
UIUC could be similar to IU kelley; but honestly you should aim for UChicago / Northwestern, and Washington University as safety Inot sure if its worth it if you are in a high rank within your school). Purdue is an engineering school, may be not so hot for Finance since krannert isn't that strong like Kelley.
For Wisc you could consider similar Chicago option transfers--also Michigan Ann Arbor
what is UWM? Madison? Milwaukee? if its milwaukee, pass.
No, it's in Madison.
Dude. Be a badger.
University of Wisconsin has better recruiting but my such a marginal amount. Recruiting isn't that good at any of these schools. SB has some really good looking girls, you are on the beach, and you are in california. If it were me I'd choose SB. I think you need to make this decision on which school you like the most.
Thanks for your reply! That's true! It will be lot of fun in SB. But they don't have a business school there... I am actually an international student, these schools cost me a lot! So I think I have to be more practical.
Go wherever you get in-state tuition. I don't think any of these four places would give you much of a leg up on the others for career opps.
