UVA or UofR

The University of Virginia or The University of Richmond? I’m a freshman right now with a 4.0 gpa. Which of these schools will get me a job on Wall Street? I know UVA has great recruiting and a great reputation, does Richmond have the same? Money isn’t a problem so the $46,000 tuition at Richmond isn’t a big factor. UVA is a lot of work and I’m not sure if I want to spend all my weekends studying. If you have gone to either school tell me of your experiences.

This is from 12 years ago you ignorant fuck. You'll never make it in finance with your careless lack of attention to details.

But what makes UVA such a better school? If a kid from VT can make it to wall street so can a kid from UofR? Is UofR a target school or not, if they have BBs like Lehman and Goldman on campus I would assume that its a pretty good school. UVA is my top choice but I'm not sure if its for me.

Please take yourself less seriously man, I was making a joke. I don't give a flying fuck what someone's religion is or what their ethnic background is.

If you want to study econ, then go to UVA; if you want finance, go to UofR. I know this really doesn't help but you should base it off what you want to study. I was in the same predicament this summer, hanving to choose between UVA econ and W&M finance...W&M finance won.

BTW - If I am not mistaken I believe the Commerce school at UVA is a bit more strict on those outside the school's major taking classes, but def. something to look into if you opt to go there.

How do you know that no banks recruit there? Is that your opinion or is that a fact? It is after all ranked #12. joinordie (givemeliberty) Why did you choose W&M? Are all of your credits transferring, what classes do you have to take before you can start taking finance classes?

Royal11 - I chose W&M over UVA bc simply put, I wanted finance; and bc of the fact that I have yet to take my foreign lang. classes I was already nixed from McIntire (fl is a pre-req for UVA Comm. students). W&M did not have this stipulation, along with the fact that for me personally, where I am right now it is a better fit (I.e. great school, real good program, closer to family, just had a baby, etc. etc.). Unfortunately, not all of my credits transferred - 60 out of 75 did though so that was enough. As far as classes req it really isn't anything above and beyond the pre-reqs: Calc., Into Micro/Macro, Stats, Accounting. Then the first semester after entering the program at W&M is the core semester, after that it is open game as long as you fulfill your reqs and GER's. Though I would have a hard time turning down UVA for UofR in your position, esp. if you are in-state. Also, I couldn't imagine going to a school and not doing what I really wanted to do, whether that be finance, econ, or hell... psychology? I don't know if employers would ask this, but one thing I would be curious about of somebody from UVA in this predicament would be: "UVA and no McIntire? What gives?" But that's just me.

Hope this helps.

Where the hell is Richmond ranked #12? I can tell you it is full of very dumb, vacuous people; it is not a very difficult, competitive of prestigious school. If you like to base your decisions off of an arbitrary title granted to a program you'll only be doing for two years anyway, then go with the stupid choice. Otherwise, pretend you have some idea what you're doing with your life.

what you study as an undergrad is pretty insignificant once you've gotten a job. UVA is well represented on the street, so you stand a better chance of getting a job if you go there.

why would you change schools a second time?
