UW-Madison, holy cross or UFlorida for undergrad?
Im going to college this fall and need to decide which school to go. I need to apply to the school of business in UW during my first year because I wasn't admitted directly to its b-school. I also got the offers from Kelley at IUB, Carlson school at UMinnesota. Im interested in accounting, corporate finance, but not sure about these, and not sure about going to IB in the future. All of your opinions will be appreciated!
Thanks.
I don't know anything about those schools except UFlorida. Friend of mine from HS went out of state to go there (which we all thought was crazy at the time), but he had interviews with a few BBs and EBs and landed up at an EB. Appears they are getting a pretty good recruiting presence. I know you said you aren't really interested in IB but that caliber of recruiters helps in other recruitment areas too. Just my two cents.
Thanks, and your words are exactly what I need and help me know about how the school is doing with recruitment. Still want to hear from more people, please comment if you guys have opinions or experience. Thanks again, BlueWing!
I know for a fact that UF's MSF which only accepts UF undergrads has an incredibly strong IB presence.

Carlson won't put you anywhere near IB in NY (although you could get Lazard MM, Piper Jaffray, William and Harris, and the other firms in the area). Madison is a fun school, there is some presence on the street, and alumni definitely pull (although I'm not sure what the likelihood of you getting into their b-school or investment banking club are. Both are what sets you up to have the best chances). Unclear on UF, only people I know from there who have made it on the street have used SEO (could just be the people I've encountered and perhaps they have some recruiting presence).
Helpful?
If you do Florida, do the 3+1 or whatever and get the MSF there. That program is run perfectly and you'll 100% have plenty of IB shots coming from it. If you don't do the MSF there your road to IB becomes a little less clear.
UW Madison is a great school and will set you up well for Chicago IB. I'd probably choose this. Get into their IB group as well and you should be fine.

UW-Madison definitely has some pull once their students get their foot in the door. Good alumni presence in Chicago and they've even managed to get a few to the Street. The students in the Investment Banking Club are setup to do very well once they land interviews.
