Value of Degree Classification
Hi guys, I know I'm new here but I hope you don't mind offering me some advice:
I'm in my final year of my economics undergrad in the UK (top 20 worldwide ranking, though not target) and have been doing some final round interviews for small M&A shops.
At this point, a 2:1 is in the bag - I only have to average 53% for the rest of the year to achieve one. Conversely, I need to work damn hard to achieve first class honours. I was wondering if you guys could offer some advice regarding the importance of degree classification in the real world. I have high hopes for my career and would love to attend a top business school in the US for an MBA if the opportunity arose. Would a 2:1 significantly damage my chances in future applications, both to business schools and top-tier financial institutions?
Thanks for reading and thank you in advance for any advice you're able to offer.
