Wait Period for Offer
Recently had an interview for a new position (at a diff. firm) and thought it went really well. At the end of the interview I asked about the timeline for a decision and was told that the position wouldn't actually start until a couple of months from now and that it would be awhile before a decision is made. I assume there are other people yet to interview, but am curious if any of you have been in a similar position - if so, how long was it before they made a decision and you heard back from them? Good idea to check in with an email every couple of weeks to reiterate my interest and show initiative?
Thanks in advance, people!
I've been working on an offer for 9 months and have emailed at least twice per month and had coffee/breakfast several times. I have been politely persistent to keep my name at the top of their radar.
@"WallStreetOasis.com" suggested to me that I should start interviewing with other firms and let the first one know that I have other opportunities on the table. Not sure if that would work in your situation, but I have had much better responses since I did that.
Thanks for the info, I'll definitely keep in touch with them. I just didn't know how common it was to interview this early for an experienced hire position...
From what I can gather experienced hire interviews are very different and have an unknown time period for completion. I have also noted that since I am in my mid-30s and the positions I am interviewing for are more senior there have been many more "fit" questions than tactical questions.
I'm not sure if this is because they assume I couldn't have made it this far in my career without knowing the tactical stuff or not.
